Our Story

Our Roots

Kristan

Kristan’s creative mindset sprouted when she was a little girl wandering the rows of her mother’s wallpaper store, flipping through the colorful pages and imagining the spaces they would transform. As she got older, the important women in her life further cultivated Kristan’s love for design. She watched her grandmother expertly select antiques from Round Top, her stepmother lovingly remodel their historic home, and her aunt work boldly on different projects from the ranch to the beach, all genres were covered.

Rob

In the mountains of Montana, Rob was raised to value hard work, integrity, and dedication. His father owned a local hardware store and spent his free time tinkering, teaching Rob and his siblings how to build, rebuild, fix, and save just about anything. Rob’s perseverance eventually landed him on a professional baseball field despite growing up where high school baseball didn’t even exist.

Coming Together

After marrying in 2006, professional baseball took Rob and Kristan across the country – moving three times a year for all eleven years of his career. Each region enriched Kristan’s aesthetic eye, from southwestern to craftsman and beyond. As Rob’s career grew, so did their family. Raising young children while continuously moving prompted renovations where Kristan could make each space feel like “home”.

When Rob retired from his baseball career, he spent a decade working in construction, specifically in the building industry. During this time, he honed his skills as an expert builder, project manager, and entrepreneur. Rob and Kristan brought their skills together to create Johnson Home Collective – a passionate, precise boutique renovation company.
